The first 30 minutes will whiten surface stains, and from 30-60 minutes the pores in the enamel and dentin (yes, we have pores in our teeth!) will open, allowing the hydrogen peroxide to oxidize deeper staining.
How It Works
A tray with whitening gel is placed in your mouth, accompanied by an LED Whitening Accelerator light, producing a cold blue light that activates oxygen molecules and opens the pores. Our vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, sulfate and paraben-free gel ensures a safe and cruelty-free experience.
How do you prepare for a Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Treatment?
To maximize results, avoid brushing or flossing 4-6 hours before your appointment. This can separate the gum tissue from the teeth, allowing the teeth whitening gel to seep between the teeth and gums and cause blanching where gums can temporarily turn white and which may feel like tingling or burning. Oral piercings should be removed, and vitamin E is applied to protect your gums during treatment.
Safe for Dental Work
Our Cosmetic Teeth Whitening in the Toms River area is safe for all dental work, though dental work won’t lighten beyond its original shade. If a tooth is dead, it is not functioning properly and will not lighten. Fluoride stains and bracket marks may initially look brighter but will calm down as the tooth rehydrates. Tetracycline staining may lighten slightly but will not go away.
Sensitivity may occur, but staying well-hydrated 24 hours before and after your treatment can minimize this effect. The process can temporarily dehydrate the teeth, which can cause sensitivity, but the best way to avoid this is to ensure you are well hydrated in the 24 hours before and after your treatment. Liquid IV or a similar preparation is great, but be sure to avoid colored liquids to prevent staining the teeth. Water is best!
Post-Treatment Care for Cosmetic Teeth Whitening
Following a White Diet for 48 hours helps maintain results. The pores on the surface of the teeth remain open for up to 48 hours, and exposure to dark or acidic foods and beverages can redeposit stains on the teeth. Anything that will stain a white t-shirt is capable of staining teeth.
Avoid orange or acidic juices, tea, coffee, dark soda, energy drinks, colored mouthwash, red wine and dark beer. Choose water, milk, vodka, white wine or clear soda instead. Also avoid colorful foods, as the more color something has the more likely it may stain teeth.
Use the provided On-The-Go Whitening Pen daily, and consider two to four treatments per year for optimal results.
